Weeks 10-11:
Being late with this diary is not something I was planning on doing, but these past weeks have been incredibly hectic. Our toddler began waking up at 04.30 a.m and between breastfeeding him, running to the bathroom, queasiness and food aversions, headaches and dizziness, I have no idea how I’ve made it so far. Supermum is something real and my respect goes to all the mothers who have 3-4 kids. Kudos to you! I have no idea how you manage it, you must be having some amazing superpowers!
How I am feeling
Tired is the word of the day, of the week(s) even. I want to stretch out the day. A 28h day should suffice, or okay, even 26h, I won’t be greedy. But, 24h are definitely not enough when it comes to sleepiness and insomnia, all in one. On the other hand I am so excited to see the little being inside me by the end of the following week. Just thinking about it, gives me goosebumps, just like thinking about … garlic, peas and carrots. Bleah! And to think I usually really like those vegetables.
Exercise:
Slacking off. Ashamed to be admitting this but it is the truth. I had no strength to continue with a fitness routine when I could barely keep my eyes opened and with a stomach really to explode from bloating. I managed to exercise 3-4 times during the last 2 weeks, not much, but better than nothing I suppose.
Breastfeeding:
I began considering weaning. Not really happy with this decision. I think my milk supply is slowly slipping away. I give him a supplement of 150ml formula at night. We did not notice any difference, he still wake up early, we hoped he was just hungry, still he hungrily drinks the formula then turns his sweet head towards my chest and pulls my blouse.
Cravings:
Shawarma, canned peaches and sardines. Not all at once. Some days I feel I cannot eat a bite, but then a hunger strikes that I could eat a horse. Hm, wait, wait! I usually don’t eat horse meat, okay? Good, phew! Bacon, forgot about bacon! Applewood cheese & bacon sandwiches. Delish! Oh, now I have to wipe the keyboard again, I need to do something about all this drooling.
Turn offs:
Carrots, just the sight of them… Peas! Pea food was my favie, now urgh! Coffee as well, and let’s not talk about garlic okay?
Nausea:
Still present, especially when I forget to chew on some fruit or any piece of food. My stomach seems to be working over hours and quite dedicated to its new job. Heh.
Clothes:
Began looking around for maternity clothes. My jeans still fit but I cannot stand anything around my waist. Low waist jeans are okay for the time being. Long live leggings and dresses.
Sleep:
Now, why should we talk about sleep when we can just sleep? You wish it were that easy, too, don’t you? Some insomnia, sleepiness during daytime when of course I cannot nap, and on top of that, weird, awful dreams. I had forgotten about the dream period of the pregnancy.
Tiredness:
Level rising to dangerous levels and the red light alert is ON! I sleep at 9 p.m. and up by 5 a.m. with interrupted sleep by bathroom trips, getting thirsty or our poor toddler wakes up scared and crying. Dreaming about sleeping works better than actually sleeping. Any tips? Would love to hear some!
Breasts sensitivity:
Nope. It’s all gone with the wind. Still not a fan of bras though. Sports bras for the win: comfortable, fashionable, all you need.
Creams and ointments:
Skipped this part since strong smells don’t get along with nausea or headaches. I saw some Mama Mio products but they had no samples to smell. Pass for now, maybe next week.
Bathroom trips:
Better. Just a trip during the night. The problem still rises when going for a stroll. Long live Marks & Spencer’s toilets! Also, I’ve got to they, the public bathrooms here in York are the cleanest I’ve seen in my life. Sometimes cleaner than M&S.
Overall mood:
Wondering how life with two children will be like and if at some point in my future life I will sleep again for 8h without waking up, going to the bathroom with the door closed, finish a meal without getting food all over the clothes. Oh, don’t get me wrong, I regret nothing, but I do miss sleep…
Showing:
Do you see that waist? Comparing to 5 weeks pregnant? I know where all my cravings are going to! The bulge you notice above my navel is from the muscles getting lose and the gap widening as the pregnancy advances. Not too flattering, it is?
P.S. The angle of the picture is different, but what you notice there, is not the actual bump, but my diastasis recti. Please check yourself and if you have it, avoid any sit-ups, planks, Pilates exercises where you raise your torso because it will only make things worse. I will talk about this in a later post.
Baby size:
He is growing! Our little peanut is now the size of a lime, after being like a prune around week 10. She will start growing at an amazing speed for the coming weeks.
Do you also feel tired? How do you cope with it? What makes the nausea go away?
